Vauxhall Announces Plans To Launch A Large Diesel Engine


Late last month Vauxhall finally revealed its exciting news that all-new 2.0 litre 170PS and 400Nm ECOTEC CDTi diesel engine will début at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October.

The new engine will be revealed in the Insignia and Zafira Tourer to show off the new powertrain portfolio.

This news mean that the current 2.0 CDTi (163PS) engine will be replaced for diesel models, meaning a better all-round performance.

The new engine will deliver almost 5% more power and 14 % more torque, while reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions according to Vauxhall News.

Other benefits will included and impressively quiet and smooth sounding engine, minimising noise, vibration and harshness.

Stats include:
  • Engine’s power density is 85PS per litre
  • Torque of 400Nm is available from 1,750 to 2,500rpm
  • Maximum power of 170PS is accessed at just 3,750rpm
