How You Can Cut Your Petrol Costs

As the UK economy isn’t too great at the moment we could all welcome some money saving tips which is why here at MegaVaux we have come up with some easy ways you could save money on your petrol costs.

ALWAYS price compare

This may seem like an obvious point but simply driving past a petrol station or two doesn’t count as comparing the market. Now with the use of modern technology it is now even easier to compare different company prices even from your mobile device, which is ideal if you need to fill up on the way home. Simply before you get in your car to drive do a quick comparison to check to see the closet and cheapest petrol station to you.

De-clutter your vehicle

It’s surprising how much unneeded clutter you can carry in your vehicle without you even thinking about it. Have you still got your roof rack attached from your holiday you had earlier on in the year? How many unnecessary mechanical tools do you keep in your vehicle, what is the likely hood you’ll use them? Spare just 5-10 minutes to give your car the once over to see what extra weight you’re carrying – Just think, the lighter the vehicle the less petrol you will use.

Check your tires!

Don’t forget to check your tires! Driving on under inflated tires will make you use more petrol. This is down to your car tires creating more resistance when moving, therefore your car works hard which will result in you using more fuel.

Drive sensibly

Having an erratic driving style can cause you to use excess amounts of petrol, this means if you tend to break sharply or accelerate excessively you may want to reconsider your driving style. We recommend staying alert to the flow of traffic, have travel alerts switched on through your radio so you are more prepared on the road.

These simple tips are easy to follow and could make a big difference when it comes to your driving style and your weekly petrol outgoings. At Megavaux we pride ourselves on providing useful hints and tips which may help you, as well as providing you with all your quality Vauxhall and Opel spare parts.

Buying Car Parts Online- Why You Should Be Buying Your Parts Online

Every time your car breaks down it’s often followed up with a quick call to the garage to book your car for a check over. This often results in an expensive bill for something which technically you could have fixed yourself if you just had the thought to do so.

However, technically you know all this already- So what’s holding you back? Lack of time, skill, knowledge? All of the above doesn’t have to stop you from buying your car parts online as you can get professional mechanical advice but opt to purchase your own parts rather than letting them do so.

Purchasing your parts online rather than letting a garage do it for you means you can avoid that nasty little VAT charge you often find added when you let a garage buy the parts for you.

If you have no mechanical knowledge or skill, how about asking a friend first, even if they want some money for their time you can bet it would be cheaper than any garage! Even if turning to a friend isn’t an option you can always ask a mechanic to fit the parts for you.

Plus, shopping online for car parts couldn’t be easier! At Mega Vaux you can easily navigate round the site by choosing the model of your car. If you can’t find the part you’re looking for you can put a request using our car part request form on site.

So next time you need a car part  why not shop online at Mega Vaux, we have exclusive offers on our website for great quality parts for Vauxhall and Opel cars.

Car Maintenance- Are You Looking After Your Car?

With snow forecasted to fall throughout the month it is essential to make sure that your car is in top working condition, this entails checking your car thoroughly for any minor or major damages.

Wear and tear on your vehicle is dependent on many factors with how you drive and how regularly you review your car for damage being the key contributing influences on the working condition of your car.

Car part longevity varies from make to model so it’s difficult to distinguish what the most commonly replaced car parts are in general terms. However, you can stay on track when it comes to maintaining your vehicle by looking for obvious faults including broken bulbs and flat tires. But, when it comes to the engine, the brakes and the general running of your vehicle it’s essential to book your car in for a service at least once a year as close to winter as possible.

If you do need to replace a car part it always pays to visit us here at MegaVaux, we have access to thousands of Vauxhall car parts, spares, and accessories.  Simply select the part you want and we can deliver straight to your door, but if you can’t find the part you need simply use our request a part service.

Remember to always take extra care whilst out on the roads during harsh weather conditions.

A Look Into Scraping Vehicles in Britain

If you have an unwanted car or your vehicle has been recently been damaged so it's no longer road worthy it is absolutely imperative that you take it to be scrapped.

The scrapping scheme which is currently in place in Britain is a safe and secure operation which provides a peace of mind to all road users and pedestrians. When a car is driven on the road, it is assumed by others that the vehicle is safe, environmentally friendly and should legally be on the road.

By choosing to illegally drive a damaged or unsafe vehicle puts others at risk as well as yourself, which may result in a serious accident, or worse death.

Scrapping your car is the safest and economically friendly way to dispose of a vehicle that is not road legal or past its best. The first protocol to scrapping any vehicle is to find an authorised treatment facility (ATF). It is important that you always look for a fully registered ATF company which is supported by the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) and the MVDA (Motor vehicle Dismantlers Association). If you are going to scrap a vehicle you should do it properly and safely which is why you need to look for a fully recognised company.

After having your vehicle scrapped you should receive a certificate of destruction (CoD) straight away or within 7 days. The authorised treatment facility (ATF) who dismantled your vehicle will inform the DVLA that you are no longer responsible for the vehicle and that you have just had it scrapped saving you the hassle of dealing further more with your old vehicle.

MegaVaux is a fully registered company which specialises in the scrapping of vehicles in Nottingham, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. We offer a free scrap vehicle removal service for cars, vans and bikes. An immediate response to your call and a reliable service is what the company offers as well as the guarantee to collect cars no matter what condition they are in. This promise will ensure that your car is safely and correctly disposed of, putting your mind at ease.

Our scrappage service is free and best of all we will pay you to allow them to scrap the car for you. If you are interested in getting a vehicle scrapped you can visit our scrap a car web page or you can call us on 0115 949 7007.

A Brief History into Vauxhall and Opel

Vauxhall is a well-known large car brand in the United Kingdom which was established in 1857 by Alex Wilson with the original plan to produce pumps and marine engines. It wasn’t until 1903 when they created their first car that Vauxhall became known for what it is today, a car manufacturing company.

In contrast Opel started in 1863 by Adam Opel, the company began their journey by manufacturing sewing machines. However, in 1902 they showed their first car at the Hamburg motor show and went on to produce their very first car in 1906, after Vauxhall. By 1914 Opel had created a reputation for themselves, they became Germanys largest car producer.

Fast forward some decades later and both the brands are now owned by GM (general motors), GM is recognised for having a global presence. Now both Vauxhall and Opel produce the same cars, however, Vauxhall is the UK branding name, it is considered that the UK name is too strong and recognised in society to change to Opel.

In some countries the Vauxhall name was dropped in 1982 as the brand name was not as strong in comparison to the United Kingdom.

At Megavaux we pride ourselves on being Vauxhall specialists, however, we sell and produce parts for both Vauxhall and Opel cars. We have parts for a variety of different car models so you won’t be left stuck with a Vauxhall or Opel car that is in need of repairing. If you can’t find a part that you are looking for than you can use our part request page to see if we can provide you with what you need.
